Anne + Patrick’s Vancouver Island Wedding

Qualicum Wedding Photographer

It was a pleasure to be Anne and Patrick’s Qualicum Wedding Photographer for their beautiful ocean side wedding on Vancouver Island. Anne’s parents have a summer home just outside of the small town of Qualicum Beach and Anne and Patrick’s wedding celebration was set to unfold in the backyard of the family summer home overlooking the Strait of George and the islands of Texada and Lasqueti. The day began with Anne and her beautiful bridesmaids getting ready in her parents’ bedroom while looking on to Patrick and his groomsmen preparing the backyard for the day’s festivities. The weather was perfect with excitement in the air. In addition to being a doctor, Patrick is a skilled wood worker and had crafted a few of the wedding detail pieces. As the ceremony was close to kicking off, the groomsmen went inside to get ready. Patrick walked his mom down the aisle to her seat and waited in front of the wedding guests to see his beautiful bride walk down the aisle with her dad. After the ceremony we traveled to some incredible picturesque locations around the Island including Qualicum Beach. We made it back to the family summer home just in time for the reception. Friends and family offered some humorous speeches followed by a toast to the bride and groom.  You could see large cruise ships sailing by in the distance. Absolutely beautiful! As sun began to set the tent lanterns lights kicked on as Anne and Patrick had their first dance as a married couple. Guests partied on until all hours of the night to the music of Michael Jackson and Bruno Mars.
Thank you Anne and Patrick for the opportunity to be your Qualicum Wedding Photographer for your beautiful destination wedding on Vancouver Island. And thank you to the Driftwood Island Retreat for being so accommodating during our stay in the Qualicum area.

Alex + Andrew’s Kicking Horse Wedding

Kicking Horse Wedding Photographer

It was a pleasure to work with Alex and Andrew as their Kicking Horse Wedding Photographer. Both Alex and Andrew are kind, generous and all around fun people to hang out with. Their wedding was certainly very memorable for us. When we arrived at Andrew’s chalet, he had rented at the base of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, it was foggy and a little rainy but that didn’t dampen the spirits of Andrew and his groomsmen. There was a genuine camaraderie among all the groomsmen and you could tell they were the best of friends. Afterwards, we made our way up the Kicking Horse gondola to meet Alex and her bridesmaids. The girls were getting ready in the picturesque Eagle’s Eye restaurant that sits atop the mountain. Laughter filled the air as we walked upstairs to greet everyone. Alex looked stunning in her beautiful wedding dress and was so excited to see Andrew for the first time on their wedding day. We set up a “first look” for Alex and Andrew just outside the restaurant overlooking the stunning Rocky Mountains. Alex took a walk down the aisle to embrace her groom for the first time on their incredible day. Afterwards, we made our way around the mountain peaks for some beautiful environmental portraits. It was a little chilly for their wedding ceremony however everyone was warm with excitement. Close friends and family members offered some memorable speeches of Alex and Andrew including a Ted Talks style of presentation from the best man. Very impressive! As the speeches came to an end the dance floor party kicked into high gear with some live Celtic music followed by an epic dance party.

Jenn + Sam’s Costa Rica Destination Wedding

Costa Rica Destination Wedding Photographer

We were so excited when Jennifer and Sam gave us a call to talk about documenting their amazing Zephyr Palace Costa Rica destination wedding. Jenn had always wanted to get married in a tropical country and Costa Rica had more than enough to offer with incredible adventure tours, friendly locals and wide variety of exotic animals. Jenn and Sam, originally from New York City, New York, chose to celebrate their wedding at the luxurious Zephyr Palace, which sits 1100 feet high on a hill overlooking the tropical rain forest and the Gulf of Nicoya, just north of the bustling town of Jaco, Costa Rica. The Palace is known for its spectacular location, prestigious design, stunning views and first class service. The staff at the Zephyr Palace built a clear composite walk way and platform that stood only a few inches above their beautiful infinity pool for the upcoming ceremony. Over 150 guests travelled from the USA to celebrate the occasion.

The celebration began the night before the wedding day with an evening reception to welcome all the guests. Close friends and family offered touching speeches of Jenn and Sam and they closed the night with a blessing. The next day, the sun was shining without a cloud in the sky. It was a beautiful day for a wedding. We met Jenn in the morning at her hotel room where everyone was getting ready for the ceremony. She wore a beautiful white laced wedding dress and veil. Jenn looked absolutely stunning! Sam was getting ready with his groomsmen two floors down from Jenn and looked very dapper in his custom suit. Everyone was dressed in white. After getting ready, Jenn and Sam made their way to the hotel terrace where they would be married on the infinity pool platform overlooking the rain forest valley and pacific ocean. Truly spectacular! The ceremony was filled with touching moments and songs of praise. After the first kiss as a married couple, Jenn and Sam made their way to the reception room. The wedding party and the newlyweds were introduced at the reception to a dance party filled with music by Beyoncé. Afterwards, everyone was treated to an incredible fine dining experience at the hotel.

Susanne was breathtaking as she walked down the aisle with her dad to meet Guillermo. After the ceremony we made our way to a nearby park for some family portraits and ended up at the incredible Art Gallery of Alberta for some portraits of the newly weds. The reception was held at the classic Ellerslie Rugby Club. The night began with Susanne and Guillermo being led to their seats by a full mariachi band. Everyone was on their feet clapping and dancing to welcome the newly weds. The rest of the night was filled with laughter and tears from some very touching speeches from friends and family. Luxurious Indian Wedding – Banff Wedding Photographer

Luxurious, colorful and lively is how Banff Wedding Photographer, Sean LeBlanc Photography would describe Raj and Leslie’s incredible Banff Springs Indian wedding. Raj and Leslie live in New York City but decided to get married at the famous Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel nestled in the heart of Banff National Park. The Manhattanites invited over 200 of their closest friends and family and the incredible team of Lynn Fletcher Weddings to plan their traditional Indian wedding. The celebration began with the Sangeet the night before their wedding which included a variety of dances and speeches from close family members. We snuck outside for some dusk portraits.

The day began at the chic Hotel Arts where Christina was getting ready with her bridesmaids on top floor which offered a fantastic view of downtown Calgary. The room was filled with excitement and laughter. Christina was absolutely stunning in her wedding dress. All of Christina’s bridesmaids looked amazing. After everyone was ready, we made our way down to the lobby where Morgan was waiting for a “first look”. He was a little nervous but looked very dapper and was ready to see his bride. Family and friends gathered as Christina and Morgan saw each other for the first time. It was awesome! Everyone was hugging each other and offering the future newly weds a big congratulations. Afterwards we took some portraits around the hotel then hopped into the limo for some portraits around the city.

Mika + Mike’s Kyoto Japan Destination Wedding

Japan Destination Wedding Photographer

Japan has been on on my destination wedding bucket list for a long time so when Mika and Mike ask me to be their Japan Destination Wedding Photographer, I literally jumped out of my seat and let out a double fist pump. Mika and Mike scheduled their wedding around the stunning Cherry Blossom bloom which happens early April for only a little over a week every year. When I arrived in Japan, I was amazed by the beautiful scenery, friendly locals and the efficient transit system. Most of the street signs and maps are in Japanese so Google Maps became a great travel companion.

The sun was shining and the weather was warm on the day of Mika and Mike’s Kyoto Japan Shinto Destination wedding. I travelled up from south Kyoto to meet Mika and Mike at their incredible sixth floor apartment that overlooked a famous Kyoto canal littered with cherry blossom trees on either side. Both Mike and Mika decided to wear a traditional Japanese Kimono for their Shinto wedding ceremony. Each Kimono was beautifully hand crafted with embroidered detail and required an assistant to help with getting in and out of each traditional garment. Mika’s Kimono had eleven layers which required meticulous maneuvering by the assistant. Once the bride and groom to be were fully dressed, we headed down to the canal for some cherry blossom filled portraits. Afterwards a limo service took us to the Kamigamo Shrine for the ceremony. The Kamigamo Shrine is one Japan’s oldest Shinto shrines dating back to 678. Rich with history, the shrine was designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. What an incredible location to get married! Once we arrived at the Shrine, we were greeted by several members of Mika’s family then Mika and Mike were given instruction, in native Japanese language, on how the ceremony would unfold. It was amazing to listen to Mika translate the instructions into English for Mike. Shinto ceremonies have many rituals which often prohibit photography however there was some time allotted for a few photos. After the ceremony, the newlyweds and guests gathered in the grand courtyard for some portraits. From there, we headed to the Heihachi Tea House Inn in north east Kyoto, where the newlyweds changed out of their kimonos and into their North American wedding attire. Mika now in her wedding dress and Mike now in his suit, headed back to the reception for drinks, dinner and a few impromptu speeches with close family and friends. We ended the night with a portrait session at the Heian Shrine, which was not far from Mika and Mike’s apartment where the day began.

Lindsay + Neil’s East Village Calgary Engagement

Calgary Engagement Photographer

Lindsay and Neil love living downtown Calgary so as their Calgary Engagement Photographer we recommended heading just east of downtown to East Village for their  engagement session. They live in the posh Arriva condo building just steps from the Stampede grounds so after a quick wine we made our way to the East Village park. It was a bit chilly but Lindsay and Neil were up for anything. We chose to meet around dusk hour to take advantage of beautiful Calgary light. Lindsay and Neil have such an electric connection! They were so much fun to photograph.

Kerrie and I are looking forward to your beautiful mountain wedding in September!

Sharla + Warren’s Calgary Jewish Wedding

Heritage Park Wedding Photographer

There was so much excitement at Sharla and Warren’s beautiful Calgary Jewish wedding as thier Heritage Park Wedding Photographer. The day began with the bridal party getting ready at Sharla’s parents home in Pump Hill. Afterwards Sharla and Warren met for a “first look” at the Temple B’nai Tikvah where they would later be married at a tradition Jewish wedding ceremony. For bridal party portraits, they had rented out all of Heritage Park for us to explore, including the classic ferris wheel so naturally we went for a spin. And then the party started… Friends and family gathered for the welcoming of the newly married couple and the start of the Horah. Everyone began dancing around in a circle and then the chairs flew in for the traditional hoisting of the bride of groom. What a celebration! So much fun… The reception followed with some touching speeches by friends and family, a slideshow and a first dance.

Thank you so much for including me on your wedding day!

Stacy + Ryan’s Priddis Azuridge Wedding

Azuridge Wedding Photographer

Elegant, classy and an incredibly good time is how an Azuridge Wedding Photographer  would describe Stacy and Ryan’s wedding at the luxurious Azuridge nestled in the foothills of Priddis, Alberta. I first met Stacy and Ryan at our engagement shoot out in Cochrane and I must say they are definitely an adventurous couple given they willingly climbed a very long and very steep hill, in their dress shoes, to chase some amazing light. Stacy and Ryan booked the entire Azuridge resort and brought in the amazing Julianne Young of Julianne Young Weddings to plan and coordinate the perfect wedding day. The forecast was calling for a little bit of rain but if anything the overcast skies provided perfect soft light for their wedding day. The girls got ready up high up in a beautiful premium corner suite overlooking the resort grounds while the boys got ready in the classy signature suite. The tower on the west side of the courtyard was the perfect place for Ryan’s first look of Stacey in her beautiful wedding dress. Afterwards, we had no problem finding an interesting setting for a creative portrait session. Azuridge had so much to offer. For the ceremony, Stacey’s dad walked her down the long sidewalk and up to the tower where Ryan had first seen his lovely bride to be. The ceremony was filled with laughs and touching moments. Back in the main lodge, Stacey got her first glimpse of the absolutely stunning reception room Julianne had created which included personalized notes for each individual guest, including the photographer! The reception was filled with touching speeches from friends and family followed by a very memorable first dance.

Thank you so much for including me as your Azuridge Wedding Photographer! You both were so much fun to work with and I wish you all the best.
